2 Polar Bear Eats seals and sometimes walruses Sleep in dens One of the largest land animals Males can weigh 700-1400 pounds and can be 8-10 feet tall Females can weigh 350-700 pounds Hair looks white, but is really translucent and clear Skin is black Have short ears to minimize heat loss

3 caribou also called a reindeer eats plants and leaves in the summer eats moss in the winter migrates in search of food has thick fur and skin has wide hooves to help walk on mud and snow and to help dig and swim

4 Arctic Fox Eats small mammals, birds, bird eggs, and berries Lives in a den in a hillside or river bank has fur on its paws to help them stay warm has thick fur on its body and short ears Has a bushy tail that it uses to curl around its body Baby foxes are called kits

5 Arctic Hare eats flower buds, berries, twigs, moss and woody plants fur is all white in winter fur is gray or brown in summer has large hind feet so they can move quickly across the snow has claws to help them dig through snow to look for food

6 Snowy Owl eats mice, voles, and rabbits builds a nest on the ground one of the largest owls wings can be 5 ½ feet across white with dark spots yellow eyes have a thick layer of feathers on their bodies and feet to keep them warm
