H EALTHY BREAKFAST By: Maialen Urruticoetxea, Maite Sánchez and Inge Blanco.

WHAT DOES A BALANCED BREAKFAST MEAN? It’s a breakfast that contains all the necessary nutrients, that give us the enough energy to start correctly the day. A healthy breakfast depends on choosing the right foods.

BREAKFAST MUST INCLUDE Eating sweet such as cakes, croissants, candy bars… should be limited. It should also include food with proteins (eggs, cheese), and a dairy portion (a glass of milk) Vitamins (any piece of fruit). Food full of carbohydrates, to give us energy (such as bread, cereals, toasts...)

W HY IS SLEEPING IMPORTANT FOR US ??? Our brain needs to sleep well for a good functioning. Learning and working becomes easier if you sleep the recommended hours. If you don´t sleep enough you get stressed and irritable. It keeps you healthy.

H OW MANY HOURS DOES PEOPLE HAVE TO SLEEP ???? Babies have to sleep between hours per day. Children between 3-6 years old have to sleep hours. Children between 7-12 years have to sleep ten hours. Teens have to sleep nine hours.

H OW MANY PEOPLE SLEEP THE RECOMMENDED HOURS ? Most of the students sleep the recommended hours, 76% Only 38% of the parents sleep eight or more than eight hours. 30% of the teachers sleep eight hours.

H OW MANY PEOPLE DON ´ T HAVE BREAKFAST ? 10% of the students don´t have breakfast. 11% of the parents don´t have breakfast. 10% of the teachers don´t have breakfast.

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT HAVING BREAKFAST? It is considered that a correct breakfast should provide about 25% of the total calories eaten per day. It is the first meal of the day after many hours fasting. Breakfast provides you with the energy and nutrients that help you concentrate in the classroom.

W HY PEOPLE DON ´ T HAVE BREAKFAST ? No apetite in the morning. 54% of the students. 67% of the parents. 83% of the teachers. No time in the morning. 46% of the students. 33% of the parents. 17% of the teachers.

H OW MANY PEOPLE TAKE A HEALTHY BREAKFAST ???? 45% of the students have a healthy breakfast. 39% of the parents have a healthy breakfast. 56% of the teachers have a healthy breakfast.

W HAT DO STUDENTS HAVE FOR BREAKFAST ?? 36 % take fruit for breakfast and most of them orange. 97% take milk or yogurt for breakfast. Only 43% take juice for breakfast. Many students take carbohydrates: 50% eat biscuits. 20% eat bread. 25% eat cereals. 5% eat other things.

5% have sweats. 25% have yawning. 10% are hungry. 30% don´t have symptoms. 20% have tiredness. 3% have mood disorders. 7% have headache. symptoms by skipping breakfast in students
