C EVALUATION QUESTION 4 Who would be the audience for your media product?

CORE TARGET AUDIENCE Males and females aged 15 – 45 with an interest in most Thriller films. The film would attract a younger audience as it provides a younger main character (someone they would identify with- a student). Older audience members would be attracted to the complex narrative and clever twists in the plot as these conventions are used in the spy thrillers for older audience who are more interested in the narrative (e.g. SKYFALL). People with a preference for films that make them think, films with unpredictable endings and twists. Example of other films they’d like would be INCEPTION and TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY as they’re not predictable and the audience has to focus on everything happening on screen to keep up with the plot. Film enthusiasts who love going to the cinema for the experience it provides. They also appreciate special effects as well as a complex narrative as they believe they complement each other. The rating of the film would be a 15 as it would contain some violence in order for the serious threat of the villain to be made clear. The plot would may also be too complex for younger audiences understand.

Andrea Marshall is a 22 year old writer for a small film magazine. Her grandfather used to work in a cinema when she was younger and would take her on trips to watch all the movies. She developed a love for cinema from a very young age, and loved watching not only the films but the way audiences would react together and how something on a screen could cause such excitement. Her favourite film genres include: action, spy, thrillers and the occasional chick flick when with her girl friends. Her music taste is also diverse and she’s open to a range, however she particularly loves jazz and rock. Her boyfriend Alex works for a publishing firm (for fiction books) and also loves watching films. Along with their closest friends they often arrange trips to the cinema. Her favourite clothing brands are H & M, River Island, and a vintage store called ROCKET. She loves dressing in floral prints dresses but also loves the wearing her old blue jeans with simple tops and her favourite black leather jacket. At weekends she enjoys staying in with her boyfriend to watch whatever chosen TV series they’re watching at that moment it time. Her favourites that they’ve watched are Sherlock, ALIAS, and The Mentalist. Her favourite movies include Die Hard 1,2,3 and 4, however she didn’t like five as she felt it was all explosions and stunts and the narrative did not interest her. She loved SE7EN and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy as they required her full attention and contained fascinating storylines which kept the audience guessing as to what may happen next. Her favourite actors are Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch as she admires their acting talent. She also enjoys reading tremendously and has read every Agatha Christie book (as she enjoyed the detective aspects of ones such as Poirot). Her favourite magazines include ELLE and EMPIRE (her aspiration is to one day work for EMPIRE). Typical Audience Member Profile

She would be attracted to our film because it would contain an interesting narrative that would make her have to think about what was happening on screen. She would appreciate the special effects and the effort that had gone into creating impressive shots (such as explosions). She would also be attracted to our choice of actors (we would choose Anthony Hopkins and Andrew Garfield (as the Grandfather and the protagonist). She would appreciate how talented actors had been chosen who brough the script of the film to life effectively. She would also be attracted to the film because of the suspense and excitement it would inspire with all the twists (for example, the antagonist in our OTS is actually a HENCHMAN for the main antagonist, but you would ONLY find that out if you were to watch the ENTIRE FILM).
