4 C LASSROOM /S CHOOL R ULES 1. Follow directions the first time to a polite request. 2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 3. Respect others with your words. 4. Do your best to learn.

5 RULE 1 - F OLLOW DIRECTIONS THE FIRST TIME TO A POLITE REQUEST. ‒ Do what your teacher asks you to do. ‒ Listen to other teachers/adults/duty. ‒ Listen to directions and follow them.

6 RULE 2 – H ANDS, F EET AND O BJECTS TO Y OURSELF Don’t touch others others e.g. no poking, tapping, touching others No hitting or kicking Don’t touch things that don’t belong to you Respect classroom property e.g. no graffiti No stealing

7 R ULE 3 - R ESPECT O THERS W ITH Y OUR W ORDS Always speak kind words Keep your mouth clean Don’t hurt other’s feeling s Only speak positive comments about others. Gossip is negative.

8 R ULE 4 - D O Y OUR B EST T O L EARN Always try your hardest. Be a good listener. Use the right-sized voice at the right time. Be responsible.

9 M ARBLES I N T HE J AR (C LASS R EWARD ) Each day you can earn class points by working together ‒ Working quietly ‒ ALL turning in homework ‒ Getting good comments from other teachers ‒ Behaving well for the substitute ‒ Anything your teacher notices

11 1-2-3 M AGIC C ONSEQUENCES If you break a rule, you’ll be called “That’s one.” If there’s a repetition, “That’s two.” If it happens again, “That’s three, take five.” Timeout at a separate desk, until you’re ready to work. You will take a note home explaining your choice.

12 P ROCEDURES They’re how we do things.

13 C OMING I NTO C LASS Enter the room with no voice, or a 12-inch voice. Hang backpack on your chair. Put any papers to turn in on your desk. Quietly begin the seatwork that is waiting for you.

14 W ALKING IN THE H ALLS Walk in a straight line with 1 pace behind the person in front of you. Voices are turned off, completely. Hand are kept to yourself. Face forward.

15 G OING T O T HE B ATHROOM Remember to use the bathroom before school, at recess and at lunch. For emergencies, ask permission with our hand signal. Do not ask during my instruction. When approved, put a ticket in the holder, sign out, take a pass and leave quietly. Upon return, sign in, return the pass, and return to your work quietly.

16 G ETTING A D RINK You may bring a water bottle from home. You may get a drink during transition times, as long as no one else is at the fountain. Do not get a drink during instruction.

17 S HARPENING P ENCILS If you need a sharpened pencil, hold your current pencil up. I will trade a sharp pencil for your broken pencil. You may use a handheld sharpener, if it has a lid. Do not play with the shavings.

18 A TTENTION G ETTERS Bum bada bum bum.. Bum bum. Give Me Five If you hear me clap… Quiet in 3..2..1 Various chimes

19 H OMEWORK Nightly Math Practice – We will correct this in class, and it will be collected. Unfinished Work – If you don’t finish an assignment in class, it’s homework. Put it in the Late Work basket upon arrival in the morning. Book Reports and Projects - monthly

20 L EAVING THE C LASS Before leaving for recess, lunch, PE, dismissal – Pick up trash from the floor around your desk. Put materials away. Wait for my signal to line up.
