2. Objectives Today we will gain an understanding of the English Bill of Rights within the historical context of the Glorious Revolution.

3. The English Bill of Rights in the Context of the Glorious Revolution James II, a Catholic absolutist monarch, did not have support of Parliament (Protestant).  Popery Parliament invited the protestant Prince William of Orange and Mary from the Netherlands to rule together. They sailed to England and established themselves as monarchs without a fight.  Bloodless Revolution James fled to Ireland, staged a comeback and lost.  Bloody Revolution William and Mary accepted the English Bill of Rights, which gave supremacy between to parliament.

4. English Bill of Rights Activity 1. Read the English Bill of Rights in its entirety. 2. Get in groups based on your assigned article. 3. In groups, rewrite the article in your own words. 4. Draw an illustration showing the essence of the article. 5. Be prepared to share with the class.
