LACROSSE Ridgefield High School Girls Lacrosse Teams! Freshman, Junior Varsity, Varsity Presented by: Lexi Masciotti Project: 8 5/18/11

Why Join?!? By joining Ridgefield High Schools’ Lacrosse team you are signing up for the whole spring season. To be exercised and pushed hard and to the fullest to make you become the best you can be. The coaches here are very well trained and have great work experience and know exactly what they are doing. Many students have gotten college scholarships from their lacrosse game. Even if you have never played tryout for the Freshman team, you could possibly have a hidden talent in lacrosse and be very good. You will benefit from this sport because it requires skill, patience (depending on your position), strength (both physically and emotionally) which you can also use in real life situations and in school. Lastly it shows you have good sportsmanship and that you can work together well in a team effort.

What Lacrosse is all about… Lacrosse Lacrosse is a fast moving sport, using technique and skill. Is also one of the oldest American sports, Lacrosse has a long history in the Northeast. The Women's game can be compared to field hockey and basketball. It may sound easy to some, of having the ball in the pocket of the stick and running down the field and scoring but, then seem hard to others getting passed defenders on the other team and keeping the ball in the pocket. But, it’s a mixture of both you will need to dedicate time to practice in your free time not just practice days. Lacrosse is also patience waiting for the ball to be passed to you and waiting for the perfect moment to score. You always need to be thinking on your toes, and chose wisely if you want to dodge your defender or pass or run passed her. Overall, Lacrosse is very fun and great way to make new friends.

How do to join! Tryouts are usually taken place during the week of March 21 st during spring. They go on for about a week, depending on how difficult it is to determine who made the team or not. You need to fill out a papers, which you can get off the Ridgefield High School website under athletics, or you may get them inside of SLO (Student Life Office). Each player needs to pay $225, you can send this as a check and hand it in along with your paperwork in SLO. The coaches for girls lacrosse is Freshman: Coach Tibbett's, JV: Coach Arcieri, Varsity: Coach Ralph

Membership Requirements To be able to play Lacrosse for Ridgefield high school you need to come to school everyday, if you miss a practice you cant play in the next game unless you were very ill. Practice is at 2:30- 4:15 down at the lower grass field at the high school. Home games are usually on the same field but sometimes we are lucky enough to get to play on Tiger Hollow Also you need to have above a C in each class. If you were to leave early during your school day, to be able to play in practice after school you must have been in school for at least four periods. The uniform the school gives you is, a white colored pinnie and a black colored pinnie a black skirt and you can just wear any lacrosse socks. During the game you need to be wearing a colored mouth guard, which needs to be warn during the WHOLE game (unless off the field), goggles, have a legal stick (referee's check them right before the game), and the game is played with a yellow ball.

Miscellaneous Information Fundraisers: Although there weren't many fundraisers we did need to sell cards for $10 for the Ridgefield Lacrosse Booster club, these cards gave you percentages off purchases of stores in town, very convenient. School Functions: There is a banquet dinner at the end of the season, it’s a great way to reconnect with your coach and teammates. Also, for away games the girls on the team either where crazy outfits or their away uniform to get pumped up for the game!
