1 Lockers Each student will be issued a locker for athletics It is the students responsibility to lock all of their belongings in their locker After they place all of their items in the locker and close it, they MUST spin the dial in order for it to lock We do not share lockers Students should not give their combination to anyone If your locker is not working properly you must report it to your coach

2 Athletic Dress Code (Girls) The girls will wear a plain gold T-Shirt or a gold Barnett T-Shirt The girls will wear plain Black Shorts They should have a pair of sweats for cool weather They should have a pair of gym shoes NO JEWELRY will be worn in athletics Grading is based on suiting out properly and participation

3 Girls Volleyball Head Volleyball Coach-Coach Howard Assistant Volleyball Coach-Coach Thornton Season-August to October Must have a notarized physical to participate.

4 Volleyball General Information 7th Grade will have four teams of 12 plus a couple reserves Two A-Teams and two B-Teams You do not have to be in athletics to try out Try-outs will last 4 days Practices will start at 6:30am Doors will open at 6:00am The day after a game - No early morning practice Teams will play one game a week and have two tournaments during the season Seventh grade is equal participation and will not play for a championship

10 Cross Country Head Cross Country: Coach Thornton Every athlete is strongly encouraged to participate in the Lady Bear Cross Country Program. Cross Country season starts in early February and ends in early March Unlimited Participation 7 th - Runs 1 mile A&B Teams 8 th – Runs 1.5 mile A&B Teams Top 10 times make A team 4 regular meets 1 city meet in which A Teams are the only participants The meets will be at Workman JH Starting times 4:30pm for 8 th and 5:30pm for 7 th

11 Track and Field Head Track Coach: Coach Thornton Every Athlete is strongly encouraged to participate in the Lady Bear Track Program Unlimited Participation Track season starts at the end of March and ends mid April. There will be 4 practice meets and 1 city meet.

12 Track and Field Cont. Unlimited Runners in the 800M and 1600M in the first 3 meets 5 maximum in the field events 8 maximum runners in all other events during the first 3 meets 4 th meet and city meet, 3 participants in each event We will determine participants for the meets by the top times and distances.

13 Track and Field Cont. Runners on the track team are strongly encouraged to continue to participate in the track program even if they are not running in the meets. Practicing should make their times better, therefore perhaps allowing them to participate in other meets Students are responsible for all uniforms given. If not returned, the student will be placed on the fine list, and will not be able to pick up their schedules until they pay their fines. Practice times are doing the athletic periods for athletes, and before school for students that are not in athletics Field event practice will be before and after school.

14 Sportsmanship The score of any athletic event is generally forgotten over time, but the actions of the players, coaches and spectators are remembered. The next time you attend a junior high school game, think of how history will remember you. Good sports show you how to play the game.

15 The Athletic Booster Club The athletic booster club is made up of parents The booster club does the concession stand for games and raises money for the program All money raised goes to purchase equipment and other items for the students
