7 + Key points of GCISD Cheerleading Guidelines Purpose – “The purpose of a Cheerleader is to build school spirit and promote leadership. Being a cheerleader also provides a goal for students to attain through good citizenship and service.” Emphasis of Cheerleading – “The emphasis of cheerleading at the Middle School level should be different from that at the High School. There will be more emphasis on spirit, leadership, and physical activity.” No Pass no Play Squad Sizes Attendance

9 + Addendum to GCISD Cheer Guidelines The practice before a pep rally is always a mandatory practice to perform in the pep rally routine. When in uniform, a cheerleader may only have natural colored nails. Cheerleaders must be in attendance 4 class periods to participate in scheduled cheer events. (Pep Rally, Practice, Cheer at games, socials) If the full day is missed the cheerleader may watch practice, but not participate. Social Media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and texting should portray CTMS in a positive manner. Cheerleads along with a parent/guardian are required to help with the Math Science Fundraisers. (1 st Saturday of December and end of February/beginning of March) There is NO guarantee that every girl will cheer in every game. Each cheerleader must EARN the privilege to cheer through attendance, attitude, practice and responsibility of perfecting chants, cheers and dance to be preformed during games and competitions.

10 + Tryout Process Monday – Thursday Learn cheer, chant, dance, & jumps Practice tryouts Day of Tryouts – March 6 Outside NCA judges HMS Sponsors & Principals enter scores 6 th – Reports at 4:30pm to Silver Gym 7 th – Reports at 6:00pm to Silver Gym Warm up in Silver gym Tryout in groups of 3 Dance & chant together Tumbling, jumps & cheer by themselves Free to leave after group has gone Results posted by 9:00pm on CTMS Cheer website Sample Score Sheet provided

11 + Estimated Cost Varsity Payment for Uniform & camp shorts Can be paid by check or credit card Will be due at the end of April Booster Payments Will be broken down into payments based on when items have to be paid for. Fundraising will apply toward these cost Purchase on your own Black yoga pants White no show socks White or Black Sports Bras

12 + Competition Team All 8 th graders have automatic spot 7 th graders may choose to participate Estimated cost are based on a squad of 20 We can take up to 30 to competition Extra fundraising may be required

13 + Time Commitment Calendar on CTMS Cheer website http://www.gcisd-k12.org/Page/32021 Camp August 7 – 10 at Great Wolf Lodge All cheer rooms in same area Sponsors will be in rooms next to girls On site security Highly recommended to attend Spring Practice on Fridays from 4 – 6pm in April & May Fall Practice on Fridays from 4-6pm 7 th grade games on Monday (except 1 st one is a Wednesday) 8 th grade games on Tuesday Occasional Thursday night for volleyball Basketball season varies

14 + CTMS Cheer Booster Club All parents will have the opportunity to join They handle all finances not paid directly to Varsity. At first parent meeting we will elect President (8 th grade parent ) Vice President (7 th grade parent) Treasurer (8 th grade parent) Secretary (7 th grade parent). All parents will be asked to sign up for committees to help with specific events. Team & Individual Fundraisers
