1 Unit 7 Management, Leadership, Human Resource Management

2  Can you recall the last time you worked either formally or informally for someone? Explain  What might you have done differently if you were in charge?

5  When a manager is more of a controlling manager and is very strict or rules based.  This type of management works best in a top down approach  It works best with unskilled or part time managers  Usually high turnover rates exist

6  This type of manager is more “hands off”.  Their goal is to keep motivating workers by either offering rewards or promotions.  They are effective with “self starters”  They are effective with professionals.  Their weakness is a lack of discipline.

7  Combines tactical and strategic  Very effective way of managing workers and performance.  Utilized in most companies

8  Is your manager fair?  Do they make false promises?  Are they a “fair weathered” fan?  Are they looking out for you or themself?  Is there going to be a promotion soon?

10  Groups of 3 with the tallest person as the boss. The other 2 are employees. All groups will come up front to present. -5 minutes to plan The skit must last at least 1 minute. You may not plan your skit while others are presenting.

18  Each member will pick a famous person or leader.  Pick 3 top characteristics of this leader.  Present your concepts to your group first  Next you will present the concepts to the class.
