Why the North- need fast flowing rivers to run the machines. Southern rivers were slow moving Factory System- Bringing workers and machines together under one building

10. Harnessing steam Using steam to run engines in machines. Steamboat could be used to travel up and down rivers/waterways much quicker than sailing ships. Trains used to get materials and goods to and from areas that boats could not reach. Could carry larger amounts of cargo then steamships.

12. Telegraph quick communications between places over any distance. Electrical pulses were used to make letters which in turn would spell out the message. Invented by Samuel Morse.

13. Technology Using the new ideas to make life “easier”. Machines such as the mechanical reaper/thresher are making the jobs easier for the workers.
