4 Why can’t you use a dry measuring cup to measure liquid?
Measuring Tools Liquid Measuring Cup: Description: Dry Measuring Cup: Doesn’t give an accurate measurement because it isn’t filled all the way to avoid spilling when transported to bowl. Easier to use liquid because there is a lip to help pour and you get a more accurate measurement. Why can’t you use a dry measuring cup to measure liquid?

Baking Pans- usually made of metal or heat-resistant glass. Come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Cake Pan Loaf Pan Pie Pan Muffin Pan Baking Sheet If you use a cake pan to make pies, the pie falls apart as you try to get it out of the pan. 17 Appliances Small Appliances-

18 Appliances Cooktop Conventional Oven Broiler
Cooktop- basic unit has four heating units. These may be gas burners, electric coils or various kinds of heating units hidden under a smooth surface. Controls for each unit let you adjust the heat from low to high. Broiler- lets you cook food by direct heat from above. In many broilers you don’t adjust the level of heat. Instead, you adjust how far from the heat you place the food. Gas ranges usually have a separate broiler compartment. With an electric range, the over compartment is used for broiling. Most electric ranges require that you leave the over door slightly open when broiling food. Conventional Oven- Air inside the oven is heated by gas or electricity. The hot air circulates naturally and cooks the food. The oven control lets you set an exact temperature. Broiler

19 Appliances Convection Oven Function:
Works like a conventional oven, except a fan helps circulate the heated air. It cooks faster and more evenly than a conventional oven. Convection Oven Function:

20 Appliances Microwave Oven Toaster Oven
Microwave Oven- cooks faster than a conventional or convection oven, saves energy. Keeps the kitchen cool because a microwave doesn’t heat the whole oven. Toaster Oven- toasts, bake, and top browns small amount of foods. Some models can be used for broiling. Toaster Oven

21 Appliances Electric Skillet Slow Cooker Breadmaker
Electric Skillet- can fry, simmer, steam, roast and bake. Has a temperature control. Slow Cooker- cooks foods such as soups and stews at a low temperature over many hours. You can safely let it cook food all day while you’re away from home. Breadmaker- automatically mixes dough, lets it rise and bakes loaves of bread. Breadmaker

22 Appliances Blender Food Processor Mixer
