The ecspand Records Organizer allows you to display documents related to the same process in one hierachical folder structure. Documents are gathered dynamically, so they are automatically added to the folder structure up on upload.

Usually, when a user wants to upload a document to a SharePoint library, she/he has to open Internet Explorer, log on to his/her SharePoint account, then browse to the necessary library and then add the document to the library and add the corresponding metadata. The ecspand sidebar allows to directly upload documents to SharePoint from your desktop without having to open the SharePoint account and browse to the library. Simply drag the document to the ecspand sidebar icon and put the document in the basket for uploading.

Clicking on the sidebar icon opens the interface with the users basket – the documents that are to be uploaded. Furthermore you have a structured view on the SharePoint sites and libraries, you can determine Favorite sites that you often browse to and a history of recently accessed libraries.

Clicking on the basket opens the list of documents that are marked for upload. Furthermore a preview of the documents is shown which helps to index the documents. You can now drag the document or documents to the library that you want to upload it to.

After you dragged the document or documents to the library that you want it to upload to an index form with the associated metadata for this particular library respectively the chosen content type will appear. Again, the preview helps to view the document content and ease indexing. You can now fill out the necessary index data – if you have several documents that need to go to the same library, you only need to fill out the metadata once – all documents are uploaded then with the metadata that you entered.
