The Under 15 team were Runners up finishing a close second only on goal difference. 2. IYSA was established in year 2000 with an aim to increase the number of children playing football in modern programs starting young. By 2010, over 3000 children (Age 6-18) in the Delhi NCR region had played in the IYSA Mini League running from October to April annually. Eventually the need for a more organized coaching program was felt, hence a new project in 2010, called ‘New Delhi Josh ’. INDIA YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION (IYSA) 2010 - Breaking ground: Mud patch to a quality grass field In 2010, The Government of Delhi gave IYSA permission to start a football program targeted at Government school children. An unused field at a Government Education Centre was allotted. IYSA had to maintain the field and run the coaching program free of cost for Government school children. To develop good players we needed grass and a lot of effort and cost was made and continues to be made to develop and maintain a smooth playing surface.

4. When the program first started, the players came from the local community/slums many children did not have football boots and we had to train them bare feet to get their technique right. Over the last 5 years, IYSA has provided kit and equipment, employed coaches, maintained the field and run the coaching program free of cost for all children. INDIA YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION (IYSA) 2010 - 2015: Building an annual Grassroots program (Under 13 age) In 2010, getting Under 13 age players to join was and continues to be a challenge as many kids have to come on their own since parents work in low income jobs. Starting with a handful, now over a hundred players receive coaching every week and play in a Mini League in winter. In 2014-15 the Grassroots program ran from August to May and builds basic skills and techniques. It’s the supply line to the Under 15 and senior teams.

6. One of the highlights every year are the Community Coaches from Arsenal Football Club, UK who work with IYSA in the Academy. In 2014-15, three coaches (Joshua, Harry and Moklan) spent between 4 to 6 months working with all the age groups. 7. The Directors of Sports, Govt. of Delhi were and are high profile World and Olympic Wrestling Champions. The program started under Padamshree Satpal (retired), and continues under Sushil Kumar, both of whom have been Chief Guests at Awards Days. Shri Satpal words “Never settle for coming second” during one Awards presentation continues to be the Academy motto. 8. In 2011 the boys were Under 15 and the first match they played was against the coaches; a 0-5 defeat. It took nearly 3 years to become a winning team. Lifting the Under 19 Delhi Youth League title against international kids from American (YFI) and British schools, physically stronger private school boys in DPS, and Bhaichung Bhutia Academy (BBFS), and seasoned pros recruited by Magic Bus was a huge achievement. In 2013, IYSA took 16 and 17 year old players (the beginning of the U19 team) on a series of matches in the North East of India and performed well against the youth teams of Shillong Lajong (a professional ‘I - League’ club) and the Sports Authority of India, Meghalaya. The scores 2-3 vs Lajong U17, 1-1 vs SAI Meghalaya, 0-1 vs Lajong U19. The kind of preparation that would lead to winning performances in the Delhi Youth League. 10. A changed kit, the 2014-15 New Delhi Josh Under 19 team swept the Delhi Youth League putting on one winning performance after another. Even then a win or draw was required on the last day of the season against the YFI-American team. The result, a superb 5-0 win becoming the first team to win the league back to back seasons. 11. Under 17 and Under 15: Performance over par INDIA YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION (IYSA) Under 15 (2014-15) Under 17 (2014-15) The Under 17 teams and Under 15 teams played very well in the 2014-15 Delhi Youth League to finish 3 rd and 2 nd respectively. The Under 15’s winning 12 out of 15 matches, many a time having to grind out victories.

Delhi Youth League (2014-15): IYSA’s shows its Josh in the standings INDIA YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION (IYSA) New Delhi Josh teams, excellent in the Under 19’s, good performances in the Under 17’s and beyond every expectation in the Under 15’s who lost only on goal difference in the last 10 minutes of the last game of the season when YFI Rovers pulled off a late win against the BBFS (Bhaichung Bhutia Football School) to be equal on points but a better goal difference won them the title.

Under 15’s consistent and fighting till the end, the U17’s in the top three and the Under 19’s winning 11 out of 12 matches. The one blip, a very bumpy pitch.

Trained in the IYSA - New Delhi Josh program 2010-12 2012 selected to AIFF Academy INDIA YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION (IYSA) Player Achievements: On the road to becoming a professional player Deepindra Negi - India U17 midfielder Started training with IYSA in 2010 as a 12 year old However far too good for the juniors, was moved up to U15 Amit says, “I was inspired by watching my father play. I started playing at Nehru Stadium but I couldn’t find good coaches till I came here. When I came to IYSA, I didn’t think I could play for Delhi. I worked hard and improved a lot with the coaches’ support and went on to captain Delhi U14 at the School Nationals”. In 2013, part of the IYSA U17 team against Shillong Lajong 2014, Captain of IYSA U19 team - wins Delhi Youth League 2014, selected to Mohun Bagan‘s Club U-19 Academy Amit Bisht - selected to Mohun Bagan Academy Year later chosen to play for India in the U16 SAFF Championship 2013 in Nepal. Played every match from central midfield and helped India beat Nepal 1-0 in the final to win the Cup. Chosen once again to play for India is the Asian U16 Championship Qualifiers in Kuwait – Nov 2013
