3 What is the Laptop Program? A fantastic program, made possible through a partnership between HPISD, Our Parents and Apple Computers, that provides laptops for Highland Park Secondary Students.

4 What kind of a Laptop Will I receive? 13”Apple MacBook complete with: DVD Player Wireless network card Sleeve Software/Books

5 How do I take care of my laptop? Do not carry the laptop by the lid or bend it back too far. Treat it as carefully as you would any good electronic device. Avoid dropping/spilling liquids in your laptop. Do not write on your laptop or place pressure on the lid. Do not clean your monitor with anything other than a dry cloth.

6 According to the contract, what are student responsibilities? Students are responsible for: Taking good care of laptops Bringing laptops to class every day Recharging laptops at home for school use

7 According to the policy, what activities are prohibited? Defacing laptops or laptop bags Using obscene language and/or materials, including screensavers, backdrops, and pictures Visiting pornographic, or otherwise unsuitable Web sites

8 What do I do if something happens to my laptop? If laptop is stolen, report to the HPISD police department. If laptop is malfunctioning, take it to the technology department. Please DO NOT make repairs yourself. This voids our warranty with Apple

10 Highland Park Insurance Agreement In order to receive a laptop for the school year, a student/parent will purchase laptop insurance. The premium for the year is $50.00. If there is damage that our department cannot fix, we will send it to our insurance company.

11 Insurance Continued The Deductible for the first claim is $250.00. The school will pay for half of the deductible leaving the balance (125.00) to paid by the parent.

12 Pause Before You Post We want to take an active role in educating our student and parents about Personal Publishing and the web. Pause Before You Post is a public service program provided by Jostens that encourages smart decisions about posting on the net.
