21 Significant Safety Achievements- 4/15 A good deal of progress was made setting up Activity Manager projects and work activities for ETA divisions. The updated ETA Integrated Safety Management Plan is out for signatures. The major chemical container/sample clean-out of the B62 (Kerr) lab areas is basically complete. Only a few trays of samples remain. A number of Safety Alerts were issued to ETA personnel: –Fume Hood Safety –Hot Plate Safety –Squeeze Bottle Safety –Disposal of Unwanted Samples –Peroxide Former Safety Followed up on the perchlorate issue identified at UCB. We identified a dozen unwanted perchlorate containers and sent for disposal. Lessons learned shared with lab personnel.

22 Short Term Safety Outlook- 5/15 Continue the set-up of the Work Planning and Control (WPC) “projects” and “activities” for ETA. Plan to have substantial completion by 5/29. Complete the Glove Box Operation Self-Assessment project report for submittal. Complete an old chemical/sample clean-out in the 70-264 lab area. Continue to address ETA equipment on the electrical equipment “fail” list Assist with the set-up for new lab areas 70-143, B33 JCESR, and B60 test chambers. Conduct a quarterly SAA hazardous waste inspection. Participate in EHS Division’s Reactive Chemical Use self- assessment.
