3 regular Drop ending, add ending AR endings:ER/IR endings: -é -amos -í-imos -aste -asteis -iste-isteis -ó -aron-ió-ieron

5 -car, -gar, -zar In the yo form these verbs have a spelling change to perserve their sound: -car-qué(ca says K, ce says S) -gar -gué(ga says G, ge says H) -zar -cé(z is half a letter – it never appears with e or i) Watch out for the Sleazy-G (CZG)

6 i-y i changes to y when between 2 other vowels These verbs end with double vowels oír (to hear)leer (to read) oíoímosleíleímos oísteoísteisleísteleísteis oyóoyeronleyóleyeron (…there are 5 verbs – leave room)

8 Stem changers Sandal verbs (ir stem-changers are a pain in the boot) For a verb to stem-change in preterit: 1. it must be an –ir verb 2. it must stem-change in the present. 3. it must be 3 rd person (él or ellos form) The new stem change is e i and o u (…8 examples – write the 4 in black to have one of each kind)
