Activities will include surveying other groups and community leagues, and the Committee will plan, investigate and make recommendations to the Board…”

27 2012 BQCL AGM Our Community  League Founded in 1979  Hall facility was built in 1982  Number of Residents: 10,447  Number of homes: 4,835 Blue Quill: 4,568 (2,042 homes) Blue Quill Estates: 1,296 (565 homes) Skyrattler: 1,947 (1,172 homes) Sweet Grass: 2,636 (1,056 homes) * 2012 City of Edmonton Neighborhood Census (as found on City of Edmonton web site at http://www.edmonton.ca)

31 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Civics  Director: Neil Dunwald Designed, distributed and completed Community Survey Program - 423 respondents Persuaded City to review its plans for Skyrattler Park Helped change city philosophy wrt On-Street Cycle Paths Participated in 2 day Public Hearing wrt developments on Blue Quill Park Negotiated a motion before City Council to move the proposed FTHB site to north site of Blue Quill Park

35 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Fundraising  Director: VACANT We had no one in this role, which made it challenging to stay on top of grants Managed to get applications in for: 2011 City Operating Grant 2012 City Operating Grant 2012 Community League Infrastructure Grant 2012 Canada Summer Jobs Casino was held May 10 & 11, 2012: Thank you to all volunteers We received $76,713.59

36 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Membership  Director: Sandra Higgins We sold 317 memberships 281 Family memberships 23 Single memberships 13 Senior memberships We had a membership table at the Indoor Soccer registrations at Yellowbird Hall during their two-day event. We also had a membership table at the Southwest Farmers Market on two separate occasions this past summer. Gathered over 100 volunteers for various Blue Quill events during the year, including two casinos

Discounts on City of Edmonton recreational multi-use and annual passes

41 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Programs  Seniors Held a meeting with local seniors Attended meetings for the southwest seniors’ center development We’ve tried to get a defined Blue Quill senior’s representative  Liaison between our community league, SWESA and other southwest area seniors’ groups  Please let us know if you are a senior and interested in getting involved

43 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Publicity  Director: Felice Bassie Worked closely with the Webmaster to maintain the website, adding submitted articles and removing those expired Submitted articles, news and events to the Community Views for each of the 10 printed issues each year

70 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Sports  Director: VACANT  Soccer: Barb Waldie  Janice Quinn Indoor - 09/11 to 03/12 had 5 teams (60 kids) Outdoor - 196 kids with 33 transferred over NO coaches for U10 girls or U12/U14 boys 36 coaches/assistants with 6 coaching 2 teams CHALLENGE: Getting coaches after U10 SUGGESTION: Have more training from the beginning so coaches are more confident at higher levels

71 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Sports 2013-all coaches have to take course as per EMSA Coaches T-shirts were a big hit and help: will need to get more medium and large Only 5% loss in equipment, but should always budget for replacement/supplemental equip. Tim Hortons sponsors Mighty Mites and U6 with jerseys; BMO has a U8 program, but no guarantee on color: more info to come! Revamping of Mighty Mites Program:  Perrin Beatty helped revamp the program into 4 groups of 6, 4-station training and 10 minute game, eliminating snack time-Big Hit!

72 2012 BQCL AGM Year in Review – Sports  Indoor Soccer: Sept 2012 – March 2013 This year we have 4 teams playing with approx. 50 players 1 – little kickers 1 – U6 2 – U8  We will need to budget for the purchase of more (20 or so) size 3 indoor balls

There are many reasons to volunteer!  Meet new people and make new friends  Gain work-related experience  Share existing skills and talents or learn new skills  Effect change and have a positive impact in YOUR community
