4 AB C EUROTHERM Page – How it is used The 2500 is designed to work as flexible controller in a number of possible architectures: As stand alone programmer/controllers using the Eurotherm type T800 ¼ VGA display As front end control and data acquisition for third party PLCs and SCADA packages As stand alone signal conditioning or alarm monitor As extension I/O for the 2604 and 2704 programmer/controllers

6 AB C EUROTHERM Page 6 The IOC Module The Input / Output Controller module (IOC) is the central processing unit of the 2500 system. The IOC supports several communications interfaces for configuration and large networked systems, SCADA packages, T940 and the Visual Supervisor, PLCs and so on: An RS232 interface using an RJ11 connector is used for system configuration Modbus 3-wire or 5-wire communications Profibus DP or Profibus DPv1 communications DeviceNet communications Note: The last three each require a dedicated version of the IOC and Terminal Unit; the "Configuration Port" is standard on all IOCs.
