2. 2 Kentuckys Wireless Initiatives Listserv Services This presentation will aid the user in understanding and utilizing Kentuckys Wireless Initiatives Listserv capabilities. Listserv Services welcomes Public Safety and Government Officials in their quest to improve wireless communications interoperability across the Commonwealth.

3. 3 What is Listserv? Listservs are electronic mailing lists. They allow people with common interests to more easily exchange information using electronic mail. An e- mail message sent to a mailing list address is automatically forwarded to all subscribers to the list. Example: if you want to send an email to all the Kentucky Wireless Listserv Initiatives Members, you would simply send it to kwi@listserv.ky.govkwi@listserv.ky.gov

4. 4 Whats the Purpose of Listserv? In order to promote improvements in Kentuckys Public Safety Communications Interoperability, the Listserv was created to bring together public and private organizations to research interoperability challenges among local, state, federal public safety organizations. The Listserv serves as a bridge to freely exchange ideas for improving communications among public safety and government officials.

5. 5 What Listserv is Not? A forum for vendors to solicit customers. A forum to accommodate one to one communications. If you wish to reply to the sender of a particular message, please respond to that person directly, rather than the entire list. A forum for conducting private or commercial activities such as promotional announcements, product-related press releases, advertisements, prices, terms of service, etc.

6. 6 Who Can Join Listserv? Public Safety and Government Officials. The Commonwealth Office of Technology reserves the discretion to accept or deny subscribers to the Kentucky Wireless Initiatives Listserv Group.

7. 7 How Can I Join Listserv? Send an Email to: join-kwi@listserv.ky.govjoin-kwi@listserv.ky.gov An email confirmation of approval or rejection will be emailed back to you. If you are accepted, the Listserv Administrator will add you to the Listserv Group in a timely fashion.

8. 8 How Can I Leave Listserv? Send an email to: leave-kwi@listserv.ky.govleave-kwi@listserv.ky.gov The subscriber will be automatically dropped from the Listserv Group without any intervention from the Listserv Administrator.

9. 9 Summary Listserv promotes the Commonwealths communication interoperability efforts by bringing people together from local, state, and federal public safety organizations to freely exchange ideas for improving communication interoperability among public safety and government officials.
