4 z.f.rashid Once the Marahaja of Tranvancore ordered his cook-- use the vegetable scraps instead of throwing them. O.K.

5 z.f.rashid The cook was in a fix. An idea flashed across his mind. Idea !!

6 z.f.rashid He collected the vegetable scraps, washed and cut them into long strips.

7 z.f.rashid The cook boiled the vegetable scraps into in a pot.

8 z.f.rashid He took out the grinding stone

9 z.f.rashid He ground the coconut, green chillies and garlic together into a paste. garlic coconut Grinding stone chillies

10 z.f.rashid The cook added the paste and some salt to the cooked vegetables

11 z.f.rashid Then he whipped some curd and added to the curry

12 z.f.rashid coconut oil curry leaves He pours some coconut oil and decorated the dish with curry leaves.

14 z.f.rashid Lo and behold !! A new dish !! for the traditional feast. It is AVAIL (uh-vi-ul)

15 z.f.rashid AVAIL is now one of the traditional dish of kerala. Imagine it came from vegetable waste.
