1 MY SLIDE–SHOW ON TOPIC “THE RUSSOIN FEDERATOIN, RUSSIAN PEOPLE AND THE FOOD THEY LIKE TO EAT.

2 What is your favourite Russian song? To my mind the best Russian song is “Moscow Suburb Nights”. We can feel great influence of geography on people and their life style. Listen to the song. Moscow Suburb Nights. 1.Not a Rustling leaf not a bird in flight In the sleepy grove until dawn How I love these nights, Moscow suburb nights The caress of the walking sun. 2. The calm riling stream seems to off and flow Like a silver web of moonlight, In my heart I hear singing come and go On this wonderful summer night.

3 Location and climate The size of Russia is hard to imagine. Russia is washed in the North by the Arctic Ocean and its seas. A flight to Magadan takes 8 hours. That’s why Russians think and act big. Nature has not been kind to Russia.

4 Much of European Russia and Siberia is very cold most of the year.

5 RUSSIA TEA Due to this harsh climate Russians are also great tea- drinkers! Tea with lemon is called «Russian tea». Lemon tea is popular all the year round. You should use a heat proof tumbler and serve the tea simply with a slice of lemon. Sugar can be added to taste.

6 Borsch is the most favourite meal of Russians. It is a regular meal with Russians you may try to cook it for the members of your family, if you want to please them.

7 Borsch (the recipe) Boil some meat for about 1-1,5 hours in the salted water. Stew sliced beetroot in the pen with the fat from the broth. Try sliced carrots, onions and parsley in the frying-pan, use vegetable oil for this. Beetroot should be stewed, carrots and onions-fried, peel, slice and fry tomatoes for 10 minutes separately. Put some cabbage and potatoes in the broth. Add stewed beetroot, fried carrots, onion, parsley, tomatoes, sweet pepper and in 15 minutes your borsch is ready. It is served with sour cream, garlic and greens.

8 Meat or poultry – 0,5 kg; Beetroot – 1 piece; Sweet pepper – 1-2 pieces; Cabbage – 500 gr; Potatoes – 2 pieces; Tomatoes -3-4 pieces or a spoonful of tomato paste; Brown onions – 1 piece; Salt and pepper to taste.

9 RECIPE OF RUSSIAN TOAST Cut a slice of bread. Break l egg and drop it in a bowl. Mix the egg with a spoon. Oil the pan. Put in on the stove to heat it up. Put a slice of bread into egg mixture, than put it on the pan. Put the toast on the plate and eat it. Enjoy the toast!
