2. You need to know: What a simple sentence is -It is an independent clause -It contains at least one subject and at least one verb -It expresses a complete thought -It CANNOT be divided into more than one complete thought

3. What a compound sentence is -It is two or more independent clauses joined together -It uses either a semicolon -Or a comma and coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) -It can be divided into two or more separate complete thoughts

4. What a fragment is -It is NOT a complete sentence/independent clause -It is missing the subject -It is missing the verb -It is missing both the subject and verb -Or it just does not express a complete thought (leaves you hanging)

5. What a run on is -It is a compound sentence that is missing the comma -It is missing the coordinating conjunction -Or both -Or there is no semi colon -Remember that it is a compound sentence not put together correctly

6. What the four types of sentences are: 1.Declarative -makes a statement -ends with a period 2. Imperative -gives a command -ends with a period 3. Exclamatory -expresses strong feeling or emotion -ends with an exclamation point 4. Interrogative -asks a question -ends with a question mark
