Overview

2 Codes and Standards Disconnect Switch SCPD Controller Overload
UL98 listed / CSA 22.2 No4 True disconnecting means - no restrictions Wider internal/external spacing between poles than UL508 HP rated UL489 can be an alternative for disconnection Using a UL508 switch here is a misapplication UL508 disconnect cannot be used as a main disconnect of an electrical panel (ie: entrance of control panel) UL508 listed as Motor Controller / CSA 22.2 No14 Can be used as a disconnect 1) Only after the thermal relay 2) For motor disconnect only If tested and marked “suitable as motor disconnect” (Testing to ensure it has proper closing capacity on short circuit) Disconnect Switch SCPD Controller Overload Rotary switches typically fall into two UL standards – UL508 & UL98 UL98, much like a safety switch can be applied in a multitude of applications/locations – including service entrance. The testing standards are very stringent and more demanding that UL508. UL508 devices are typically for isolation of a motor. They must be applied downstream of fusing/over-current device. They can be used as a motor disconnect, but if so, must be labeled “suitable as motor disconnect” (additional tests are required to get that marking) Historically our volume has been in UL508 products. In some cases UL508 products are being used in UL98 applications – this is obviously something that needs to be corrected and education of the customer is necessary. Load Break Switch Motor

3 New Rotary Disconnect Range
The top box shows the range of the primary products - standard UL508 & UL98 devices 16A – 80A UL98 30A – 1200A (Non-Fusible) UL98 30A – 800A (Fusible) Eaton will also have a line of DC rated switches for solar and other applications. Initial offering will be in 100A – 400A (3 and 4 pole). We plan to have some lower current products (ie: 20A, 30A, 60A) and higher current (ie: 600A, 800A & 1200A) in 2011 Manual Transfer Switches Will be available in 100A – 1200A configurations. 5 R-Series Disconnects– Catalog Numbering System
This is the catalog numbering system for the new line. Fairly self explanatory. As seen is a couple of the previous slides – the switches are somewhat grouped into families… R5 type: These are listed to UL508, are non-fusible and range from 16A – 80A R9 type: These are UL98 listed and can be non-fusible or fusible… Non-Fusible (30A – 1200A) Fusible (30A – 800A) R4 type: These are listed to UL489, molded-case-switch. There are only available in 30A – our H-frame product, fusible, accepting CC or J fuses. We’ve created the line in different frame sizes – each change in frame designates a different footprint.

6 R-Series Rotary Disconnects
New line is set up around frame sizes. Change in frame designates change in footprint. As shown, different frames accept specific handles, shafts and auxiliary contacts. Other accessories are available that are not shown here. This visually shows examples of the different frame sizes and the handle and shaft combinations that go w/ each. With the use of each rotary devices either a direct handle, or external handle and shaft is required (exception is the toggle handle version of the R5 products…not show here). This chart shows the type of direct handle needed w/ the specific frame, the shaft and external type of handle (more specifics are shown in the catalog). Also show are the proper auxiliary contacts. There are many other options listed in the catalog that are not shown on this chart.

7 R-Series – R5 (UL508) Non-Fusible
Intro for the R5 Series of products. Reminder… UL508 devices are typically for isolation of a motor. They must be applied downstream of fusing/over-current device. They can be used as a motor disconnect, but if so, must be labeled “suitable as motor disconnect” (additional tests are required to get that marking) This type of product is where Eaton’s volume has been in the past. We know that in some cases UL508 products are being used in UL98 applications – this is obviously something that needs to be corrected and education of the customer is necessary.

13 One Switch Design, Many Options
Eaton’s R5 vs. ABB’s OT, UL508 product Our Range is Much More Modular/Flexible The new R5 rotary disconnects offer a lot of flexibility for the customer. The one style of switch can be front operated, right-side operated, door mounted, used w/ a conversion kit, etc. ABB’s design requires one type of switch for front operation and a different one for door mounting. They do not have a side operated option. One Switch Design, Many Options 13

15 R-Series – R9 (UL98) Non-Fusible

16 New Product Overview: R9 Non-Fusible
R9 Non-Fusible range – 30A – 1200A. Big advantage for us vs. ABB is the new compact range from 30A – 100A (C-frame). These are much smaller options that what we’ve had in the past – size is on par w/ ABB’s OT30F3, OT63F3 & OT100F3 - - this is a significant reduction in size to what we have had in the past - roughly 78mm W X 131mm H X 64mm H. The C-frame disconnects are very modular – similar to the R5 (UL508 devices), in fact many of the modular accessories can be used on A, B & C frames. C-Frame can be front or right side operated – the others front only. V-frame product shown (Visible Blade) will be available in Will share many of the same accessories as the A, B & C frame devices. All new handle design – from right to left… S00 – Size 00 selector handle S Size 0 selector handle PH1 – Size 1 pistol handle PH2 – Size 2 pistol handle PH3 – Size 3 pistol handle PH4 – Size 4 double handle (not shown) similar to PH3, but w/ same handle length on opposite side also (only possible to use on 800A – 1200A non-fusible disconnects)

17 New Product Overview: R9 Non-Fusible
External front handle Direct handle Shaft extensions for external handles Pre-break and signalling ACs Phase barriers Terminal shrouds for touch safe 2011 This is a breakout view of the D & E frame product (F and G frame are similar). The list of catalog numbers are all of our new R9, Non-Fusible disconnect switches. Most switches offered in 3 and 4 pole. Three pole will be stocked, as standard. Four pole will be available as factory promise – specific opportunities can be discussed w/ the product line. As noted, the V-frame product shown (Visible Blade) will be available in Will share many of the same accessories as the A, B & C frame devices.

18 100kAIC 50kAIC Comparison w/ ABB
UL98 Disconnect, non-fusible, 30 – 100A * 100kAIC 50kAIC 30A, 60A, 100A The C-Frame range of products (shown here) is a big win for Eaton. This segment of the UL98 product is a spot where ABB has been strong and we did not have a solid alternative – until now. Our new switch – 30A, 60A & 100A – is similar in small footprint to the ABB OT30F3, OT63F3 & OT100F3 and carries a higher AIC rating than the ABB product. C-Frame product is roughly - 78mm W X 131mm H X 64mm H. The C-frame disconnects are very modular – similar to the R5 (UL508 devices), in fact many of the modular accessories can be used on A, B & C frames. C-Frame can be front or right side operated. * 30A & 60A = 600v; 100A = 480v, 600v

19 R-Series – R9 (UL98) Fusible

20 New Product Overview: R9 Fusible
R9 Fusible range – 30A – 800A. The small 30A devices (H-frame), CC and J fusible are identical to what we have today – only change is in catalog number to maintain consistency and the applicable handles and shafts. The H-Frame units are front operated only – all other R9 fusible can be front of side operated. 30A – 800A are smaller than our current line. Lugs are integral to switches 30A – 100A. As with the non-fusible UL98 products, all new handle design – from right to left… S00 – Size 00 selector handle S Size 0 selector handle PH1 – Size 1 pistol handle PH2 – Size 2 pistol handle PH3 – Size 3 pistol handle
