3 Clauses-Noun, Adjectives, Adverbs  A subordinate clause that functions as a noun within a main clause.  EX: Bob went to his school to get his pencil that was gold.  An adjective clause is a relative clause that modifies a noun or pronoun  Sarah and Grace went to Starbucks to get a latte.W hich the latte was the root of all their problems.

4 Noun Clauses A subordinate clause that functions as a noun within a main clause.  Whether you like it or not, you have to go to bed now  She likes the red car more than her husband does  If you pay your bills, you will have a good credit score.

5 Adjective clauses  Adjectives modify nouns and pronouns Pizza, which most people love, is not very healthy.  The people whose names are on the list will go to camp.  Grandpa remembers the old days when there was no television.  Fruit that is grown organically is expensive.  Students who are intelligent get good grades.  Eco-friendly cars that run on electricity save gas.

6 Adverbs Clauses  An adverb clause is a group of words that function as an adverb. The clause can modify verbs, adverbs and adjectives by telling when, where, why, how, how much and under what condition. They begin with a subordinating conjunction (such as after, if, because and although) and they contain a subject and a predicate  Because  example

8 Independent and Dependent Clauses Definition  A dependent clause is a group of words that has both a subject and a verb but (unlike an independent clause ) cannot stand alone as a sentence.(like a baby)  A independent clause that can stand on its own as a sentence.(like a grown Human being)

9 Dependent Clause and Independent Clauses Examples.  Dependent Clauses  Where ever she goes, she leaves her bags behind.  Whenever he eats, food gets everywhere  When they fly on the plane, they all get scared  Independent Clauses  Tom was going to get a burger, Then disaster struck.  An asteroid was hurtling towards him!, He started to run.  Tom made it to safety, And the asteroid destroyed earth.

11 Compound Sentences Examples and Definitions  Definition  A compound sentence is a sentence that contains at least two independent clauses.  Examples  I ran to the store to buy food, and soda for the party.  I ran to my car quickly, because it was raining.  We worked together on a project, because we wanted a good grade.
