independent clause + dependent clause or dependent clause + independent clause

Example: While you were sleeping, I made you dinner. If you begin a sentence with a dependent clause, you need a comma in between the two different clauses.

Example: I made you dinner while you were sleeping. If you begin the sentence with an independent clause, you don’t need a comma.
