3 AB Language Arts and History Math Students are placed in math classes based on math placement test taken in March.

4 Science 7 Health/Life Science Honors Science 7 Extends and deepens student understanding of Science 7 material

5 PE  All 7 th graders must take PE  Must choose between co-ed or athletic PE  0 period and lunch PE are options ◦ 2 Performing Arts electives ◦ 1 Performing Arts elective and an intervention class ◦ 1 Performing Arts elective and an elective requiring an application

6  Please choose your electives carefully! Unless there are special circumstances, students must remain in their chosen elective for the entire school year.  Students should list 4 electives in order of preference. Students should be satisfied with all choices, as they may be placed in any of these choices.

7 Performing Arts  Most performing art electives have unlimited seating Application Electives (A)  Applications are due when you turn in your registration materials. (Peer Counseling, Leadership, Yearbook, Journalism, and AVID) Other options include:  Computer Applications  Teen Living/Art

8  List your 4 elective choices  Be sure they match your registration form elective choices  Answer the listed questions on a separate sheet of paper for each elective  Answers must be typed

9  Student and parent must sign the Code of Ethics

10  One letter of recommendation from your 5 th or 6 th grade teacher is required. Your GIS will turn these in to GR.  Applications are due to your counselor with your registration materials

11 AVID  AVID is an elective class offered to hard working students who would like to prepare for four-year universities.  The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note- taking and study skills, as well as college, career, and motivational activities.  Students must commit to taking notes in subject-area classes on a daily basis.  Helpful for students who struggle with time management/organization  Other requirements for applicants are satisfactory citizenship, good attendance, and G.P.A. of 2.5-3.9.

12 Academic Seminar  Support for AB classes  Focus on reading, comprehension, writing, homework, and organization Study Strategies  Receive C-/D grades consistently  Focus on study skills, academic skills, and organization skills Read 180  Individualized and computerized instruction to improve reading skills Math Strategies Students who need support in Math 7 will be placed in Math Strategies as their elective.

13 Clovis North staff will be hosting an Orientation for 6 th grade parents and students The following information will be presented: Role of Counselor Registration Process Course Offerings Bell Schedule 6 Year Plan Math Placement Academic Interventions Performing Arts Co-Curricular Athletics Expectations

14  Both meetings will begin at 6:30pm in the Granite Ridge Gym  Campus tours will be available starting at 5:45pm  Parents may attend either of the meetings listed Wednesday, March 11th Monday, March 16th

15  Wednesday, March 25 th at 6:00pm in the Granite Ridge MPR

16  Take home these materials and review them with your parents  No parent signature = no registration!
