5 MAIN DIFFERENCES Size of School – over 2,000 students There are 2 semesters (your schedule is different each semester) More independence & responsibility Increased opportunity for student involvement  Athletics (over 20 seasonal Varsity Sport Teams)  Organized Clubs (over 50 to choose from)  Music, Dance & Theatre BHS is a Performing & Visual Arts High School (Magnet Program) for Music

9 MORE DIFFERENCES Students earn credits toward promotion & graduation:  Promotion is based on credit earned  Each class =.5 credit/semester  8 classes per semester = 4 credits/semester  16 classes per year = 8 credits/year  Grade Point Average – quality points earned is relevant to difficulty of class

10 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS 26 Required Credits Completer Program  Career (CAT-S, Career Research and Development (Work), Early Childhood)  University System of Maryland (2 years of the same World Language or 2 Advanced Technology credits)  Dual Maryland State Testing Program  (Combination of High School Assessments (HSA) & Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Career (PARCC) ) Service Learning
