4. Sports in America O They play a central role, because of the emphasis on achievement. O They reflect the society as well. O Men dominate sports world, as they do in society. O Women come second to men. O However steps toward equality are being made.

5. Subcultures O What is a subculture ? O A group with a distinct roles, values, norms, and beliefs that is organized around a sport activity. O Examples: O Hockey and violence O KY basketball and expectation to win.
