7 RESUME Before we start, let’s talk about resumes. A resume is used to communicate something. What does a resume tell people?

8 A Closer Look... Front Desk Agent - InterContinental Hotels, San Diego, CA 2004-2009 Helped guests check-in and check-out. Created and entered reservations into the hotel computer system. Helped guests when they had problems in the hotel. Maintained a positive attitude. What do you notice about the format? What do you notice about the sentences? What about the verbs? What tense?

10 Templates For some of you, a template might be a better choice for a resume format. Follow you teacher’s instructions for using a template. Follow along on pages 45-53 of your textbook.

11 Editing in Word On the course website, click on the tab that says “September 18, 2015.” Scroll down the page. Under the title “In-Lab Activities,” click on the first file entitled “Professional Polish” to download the file. Open your textbook to page 60.

12 Task Think of a company you would like to work for.  If you’re having trouble, check indeed.com or craigslist. Now, write a resume and cover letter for that job using the examples from class. If you finish your resume and cover letter, read pages 63-88 in the book.

14 Homework for Friday, 9/25 Read Lesson 4 in your textbook: pages 81-99 Find a job advertisement in the newspaper or online that you are interested in applying for. Then do the following:  Write a cover letter for the job.  Write your resume for the job.
