8 Who wants to be a president?  We can have no more than 5 candidates running with a VP per class.  Everyone else will be a campaign worker.  Who wants to be the C214 classroom president until January?  If you are not running for president/VP fill out a job application.  Presidents/VP will choose their own teams of campaign workers.

9 Let’s take a poll while our candidates choose their workers  All President and VP candidates please set outside. You will have 5 minutes to decide who you want to hire.  Go through the candidates one at a time. If you like the way the candidate presents himself/herself, write their number down. Everyone can’t hire the same workers.  Please note that Mrs. Marquez has the final say in all things election related.  More than one candidate might want you on their team

23  It is the oldest political party in the United States and arguably the oldest party in the world.  President Obama is a democrat  The Democratic Party is the more liberal party.  Normally pass higher tax policy in order to have more social programs.

24 Republican Party  It is often referred to as the Grand Old Party or the GOP.  Founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers. Abe Lincoln was the 1 st Republican president elected.  Today, the Republican Party supports a pro- business platform. It stands for lower taxes and more individual economic independence. It is considered to be the more conservative party.
