Mrs. Matchett’s Classroom My School, Room ___
2
FOREWORD Welcome to Mrs. Matchett’s class. I am here to teach; you are here to learn. I will do my job; you will do yours, and together we will use this year wisely and beneficially. Positive attitude is the key of success. Let’s keep it all the time.

WHY PROCEDURES? A procedure is the way we do things effectively. To do things easily, we always follow some simple procedures, for example: To open your locker, you have to select your combination as directed by the lock manufacturer. To place a call on your phone, you need to enter the number in the right order. So, to be successful in learning, we will follow some simple procedures.
4
ENTRANCE Make sure you have all necessary materials before you enter class. Enter the classroom quietly. Go directly to your assigned seat. Get ready to do some Math! Sharpen pencils if you need to before class begins. Get out your math journal and your homework. Clear your desk of other items.
5
AND THEY’RE OFF!! (THE BELL RINGS) Open and date the next page in your journal. Immediately start the warm-up that will be written on the board. Do the warm-up in your journal. When you finish, wait quietly for the next direction.
6
DURING THE LESSON Give the teacher (me!) your full attention. No pencil sharpening, talking, or whispering. Take notes as you are directed. Ask permission to speak by raising your hand. Ask questions related to the subject. Other questions which are not related to the subject can be asked after instruction. Make sure you understand the concept. If not, ask questions by mentioning which part you didn’t understand.
7
WHILE YOU ARE WORKING Read or listen to the directions about your work. Ask for help from near-by students before asking the teacher. If you are asked to help, be polite and helpful. Use your inside voices to talk about your assignment. Respect each other and be friendly. Use your time wisely. Put forth your best effort to finish your work on time.
8
KEEPING YOUR JOURNAL Your math journal is a spiral notebook that is used only for this math class. Use pencil (and only pencil) to write in your journal. Use the inside cover as the title page. Write your full name and section on it. Write your name on the outside, too. Number the pages in the top right corner. Each day, put the date in the top left corner. If you have been absent, put ABSENT at the top left corner and list the dates you were gone. Keep your journal clean and organized. Your journal will be collected and checked from time to time as part of your daily grade. You will need it each day of class.
9
ATTENTION, PLEASE! When I need your attention, I will move to the front of the class and raise my hand. I will wait a moment for you to notice. Give me your attention: Raise your hand to indicate you have noticed me. Stop talking and working. Turn to face me and listen to my words.
10
ATTENTION Please, Mrs. Matchett! When you need my attention, raise your hand. Raise your hand with 3 fingers up if you need to leave the classroom & have your pass ready for me to sign. You have ___ hall passes for each grading period Use them wisely. If it is an EMERGENCY call out my name when you raise your hand.
11
WHEN YOU FINISH Check your work and the directions to make sure everything is correct. Turn in the assignment or put it with your class notes (as per the directions!). Start your follow-up work: Check for & complete missing or late assignments Work on your POW (problem of the week) Start your homework
