2. Genre & Audience The genre that my music magazine will feature is chart pop as I feel that will enable me to make my magazine front cover look really good. Also it is one of the most popular types of music nowadays and I think that would make my magazine more popular too. Another reason behind my choice is that I personally quite like to listen to chart music because it is the most recent and up to date songs. Although all of the artists in the chart aren’t always the most popular but you do get different styles of music and very different people there. For example you have some songs that are really sad/slow but then also have a very upbeat/fast music and other rap styles. Chart music includes a whole mixture of different music types and that’s why I think its so popular. The main audience for chart music is teenagers, however you do get people of various other ages also listening to it too, so it is aimed at teenagers but still has a wider audience range.

3. Front cover ideas From looking at a variety of magazine styles, I have managed to narrow it down to my favourite two magazine front covers. The first being billboard magazine because the way everything is laid out on the page is really formal and looks really professional. An example of this would be: The second magazine front cover is Rolling stone magazine I really like this magazine because it always looks very professional like Billboard magazine, but it also doesn’t always use people from the same music genre. The main picture also bleeds across the page which emphasis the fact that Macklemore is the main focus of the front cover.

4. Favourite magazine front cover I really like this Billboard magazine for various different reasons, one being that although Beyoncé is really famous they haven't made her the subject of the front cover, they have balanced everything out equally and haven't made her the only thing you’re drawn to. Another thing I really like about this magazine is that they have coordinated the colours really well and they haven't used loads of different colours that all clash. However, what I don’t like about this magazine is that her head is covering the title, although they do this on every magazine issue, which could be classed as their signature idea. Personally I wouldn’t let the title go behind the image as I want the title to be one of the main parts to the magazine and I think it would stand out a lot better in front of the image.

5. Planned content I would like my magazine to include a variety of things such as: Latest music headlines Celebrity artist interviews Album and single releases A feature band or solo artist Download recommendations Music related competitions Albums charts

6. Unique selling point I will do a variety of things to make my product more unique. For example my magazine will include an album or single in each copy which I think could make my magazine more popular as I have seen very few magazines actually do this. Another thing I will do is make it a lower costing magazine as some magazines are ridiculously expensive and people won’t even think twice about not buying it as it’s just too expensive. The last thing that I will do to make my magazine more unique is include a lot bigger and better prizes to be won such as front row tickets to see the artist of their choice and go backstage and do a meet and great with them.

7. Reader profile A young person that may still be in some form of education or early stages of employment. They are a huge fan of chart music and are always going to the most popular festivals and tours. Music is a big part of their life and they spend a very large amount of time listening to it, they also regularly pre order and purchase the latest songs in the charts from iTunes. All of the magazines that he purchases, he likes but feels like they are slowly becoming more and more outdated so is looking for something new and more modern. Sometimes money is a bit of a problem so he does miss out on the latest available downloads, although he does manage to save enough throughout the year for the festivals such as Reading, Glastonbury and Womad. As part of my unique selling point my magazine includes singles/ albums which I think will help people in a similar situation (little money).
