1. Aristotle (382-322BC)

2. Aristotle was born in 384 BC in Halkidiki, a Greek island. His father was the personal doctor to the king of Macedonia. He was not from a rich family like Plato, though his father was not poor either. At the age of 18, Aristotle went to Athens to study at the Academy that Plato had founded. He remained there for almost 20 years, till 347 BC, the year of Plato's death. Aristotle was more interested in science, maybe because his father was a doctor. When he was 38, Aristotle travelled around the Greek islands where he spent time studying zoology and botany which meant he studied and classified plants and animals.

3. Aristotle was invited by King of Macedon, Philip II, to teach his son, Alexander the Great. He also taught philosophy, literature and politics to other Macedonian noble men. In 335 BC, Aristotle returned to Athens and established his own school, Lyceum, where he taught for about 12 years. At that time, he wrote many books for his students. Aristotle dealt with every possible subject of his time: from anatomy, zoology, physics and metaphysics, to theology, rhetoric, psychology, geology and meteorology. It is said by historians that Aristotle literally studied everything that was known in the Greek encyclopaedia of that time.
