2 Entering Highways Acceleration lanes  Used to gain speed to join the flow of traffic on a highway.

3 Exiting Highways Deceleration Lane  Also known as exit ramps  If you pass your exit…  Continue to the next exit.  Never reverse your vehicle on the highway!

4 Curves Slow down BEFORE entering a curve! Adjust your steering while going around the curve because your car will tend to go straight.

5 Turning Regulations ( right turns) You are allowed to make a right turn at a red light  Unless there is a sign posted that prohibits this action.

6 Turning Regulations: Left turns Stay as close to the center line as possible.

7 Stopping Regulations When a yellow light follows a green light, stop is safe! You are not allowed to stop in the intersection!

8 Railroad crossings You must stop 15 feet from a railroad crossing when there are flashing red lights, ringing bells or flags. If you stall on the tracks, get out of your car and walk clear of the tracks in the direction the train is coming.

9 School Buses Motorists MUST stop at least 25 feet away from a bus when they are on a two lane road and the bus has their flashing red lights unless…  They are in front of a school  Only allowed to pass at speeds no more than 10 mph.  You are separated from the bus by a (median) physical barrier. (multilane highway)

10 Frozen Dessert Trucks Yield to pedestrians Stop Drive around truck at speeds of no more than 15 mph.

11 Emergency Vehicles MOVE OVER LAW NJ law requires that all motorists approaching a stationary emergency vehicle, must change lanes. If it cannot be done safely cars must reduce speed. If the vehicles are on the move and they sound their sirens and/or flash light, steer to the extreme right and stop!

12 Headlights Headlights must be used:  one half hour after sunset and one half hour before sunrise.  When you are using your windshield wipers  When visibility is reduced (500 feet or less). High beams (bright beams) should only be used during:  Open country driving where there is no traffic in sight *High beams can momentarily blind other motorists by constricting their pupils and shouldn’t be used if there are other vehicles approaching

13 You must park… 10’ from a fire hydrant 25’ from a crosswalk 50’ from a railroad crossing 50’ from a stop sign 20’ from the entrance to the fire dept. and 75’ on the opposite side of the street.

14 Littering May result in fines up to $1,000 and loss of license.
