PercentagesTasks  30%  20%  Long-Term Assignments (Segments of Research Portfolio)  Tests/Quizzes  Class Work (including class participation)  Homework

Loitering: verb. To remain in an area for no clear reason.  If you are late to class, you must bring a late pass or the late will be unexcused.  Unexcused lateness will affect a student’s class participation grade.  You will also be given a 2 point referrel because your lateness is considered “loitering.”

 If you are absent, you must provide a note from a doctor or guardian to the main office in order to be excused.  If your absence is unexcused, you might not be able to make up any missing exam or quiz given on that day.  Your class participation grade will also be affected because you will have missed a full lesson that is necessary as you prepare for your research presentation.  You will be given a 3 point referral if you cut class.

 You are expected to make-up all missing class work and homework when you are absent.  To ensure that you know what was covered when absent, you must have the contact information of at least 2 students in the class.  It is the student’s responsibility to contact these people when absent in order to find out what was missed.  It may also be necessary to stay after school or at lunch to get caught up.

 If you are absent on the day an assignment is due, you may hand it in on the day you return at no penalty if your absence is excused by a note given to the main office.  If you are absent for an exam or quiz, it is YOUR responsibility to meet with Mrs. Reyes to arrange a make-up time.  However, if the absence is unexcused you might not be able to make up the quiz/exam.

 Assignments handed in after the due date are considered late.  The student will lose all or partial credit for the assignment if the late is unexcused.

 1.5 to 2 inch (fix this on your sheet) 3 ring binder with pockets (to be labeled in the classroom)—(I suggest the 1 inch black Simply Economy View Binder found in Staples)  Dividers that are labeled as the following & placed in your binder: Class Work, Homework, Quizzes/Exams, Research, Outline/Drafts  ½ packet of loose leaf paper already placed in binder (in the back)  1 zipper ring binder pocket (place in beginning of binder). OR you may bring in 4 heavy duty one gallon Ziploc bags (neatly label with first and last name using permanent marker or label).  1 package of 3x5 index cards (place in one of the labeled Ziploc bags)  1 blue or black ink pen (place in labeled Ziploc bag with index cards)  1colored pen (any bright color except blue or black—to be placed in Ziploc bag with index cards)  Two #2 pencil (place in labeled Ziploc bag with index cards)  One set of post it notes (place in labeled Ziploc bag with index cards)

 Flash Drive—DELETE THIS ITEM FROM YOUR LIST. YOU CAN’T USE FLASH DRIVES ON THE SCHOOL COMPUTERS.  White Out  Pencil Sharpener (not electric)  Large Pack of Post It Notes (will be helpful when researching material in texts)

 All school rules also apply to room 177.  If you or your guardian is interested in viewing the Chancellor’s Rules, click on School Policies at http://kecss.infohttp://kecss.info

 You must sign that you have read, understand, and agree to the contract on the piece of paper being given to you.  I will collect this from you for a Class Work Grade.

 You must take the contract home and have your parent/guardian read it.  Detach the piece of paper from the top and have them fill it out.  Return the slip to me next week.  BE SURE YOUR PARENT or GUARDIAN UNDERSTANDS WHAT SUPPLIES YOU NEED!!!!!!  Your signed contract and supplies are due next week!!!!!!!!

 And just remember!!! It’s a jungle in here !!!! So be prepared!!!
