This is the poster for my coursework, and in the following presentation, I will describe what I have done and the reasons that I have done them. I will take each aspect of the front cover and talk about them separately.

Our image for the poster is the same as our image for our magazine front cover. The reason we did this was because that way, readers and viewers will always associate that image with our film, and people will know as soon as they see it that it is our film; The Boss. Just like with the front cover, our film is full of positive representation, saying that the woman always has the upper hand, the power and always on top. Rianna looks neat and tidy, whereas I look mess, which is meant to instantly show positive representation within the film.

The reason our title is what it is for a start, is that a lot of Rom-Coms start with the word the, for example, “The ugly truth”, “The break-up” and “The Bounty Hunter“. Also, the colour choice implies that the boss is not a nice person, and it is a woman also, so it is all positive representation for women. I have chosen to place it in the centre of the poster so it attracts attention straight away, and the colour also contrasts with the white background as well as the black font of the word “the”. I also chose to place the names of the main two characters either side of it, because if people go to see a film, because of who is in it, then the cast is a big part of the film for them, so they need to stand out in the centre. The Boss Rianna Day Joel Harris

I have included in my poster a review from “Empire Magazine” and a quote from a film critic; in this case I chose Jonathan Ross. The reason I included these was to make it authentic. If a Hollywood film poster was released with no 5star reviews or a good comment from someone famous, the poster would not be thought of as a very good one. Every poster needs these. Also, I included the certification of the film on the poster, so people know right from the start what certification it is. - Empire Magazine “Brilliant!” -Jonathan Ross

Every poster has to have a billing block, which contains all of the information about who directed, produced, cast etc. This allows the audience to see who is involved in the filming, not just on screen but behind it as well. I put coming soon at the bottom of it in red as well as it matches the colour of the title, and there is a contrast again. I took this idea from the “Sherlock Holmes” poster. Adding this also makes my poster look authentic.
