1 OHS Expected Procedures 2011 Rituals and Routines

2 *** Word Walls will be used Content words will be part of EVERY class…will be quizzable…

3 Every student Uses an Agenda ***No student may leave the room without his/her agenda…Borrowing another student’s agenda will be a disciplinary measure… Weekly assignments will be written in it every Monday Buy another one for $5.00

4 Seating Charts Every class has a specific seating chart…No one is allowed to get out of their seats without permission!! This includes when a Substitute is here!

5 Bell work/Bell Quiz All classes will begin immediately with a bell question and/or quiz to be part of their grade…Make-up is the students’ responsibility…

6 Universal Sign/Symbol for Class Order All will use the universal arm up to signify all to stay focused, be quiet, eyes front on the instructor…

7 Webpage www.katmanscience.com... www.katmanscience.com Will be used regularly…no excuses will be allowed… technology is part of this class …

8 Standards We teach by the Florida Common Core Standards…nothing taught is to waste your or my time…

9 Student Questions Do NOT leave the class if you are unsure of a specific concept/lesson taught…It only gets harder so ASK QUESTIONS!!

10 Student Work Headings All papers /assignments WILL have the same heading format of Name, Date, Period, in the Upper Right corner per school and class policy…Points will be deducted for failure to follow this protocol…

11 Differentiated Instruction All students will be involved in different learning modalities: videos, readings, writings, powerpoints, posters, podcasts, role-play, etc…We will all help to be successful.

12 Be Positive Leave all negativity out of the classroom…You can succeed/improve…not ‘I know it’s not good, I didn’t do well’, etc…

13 # 1 Rule SAFETY is still the #1 Class Rule…No horseplay will be tolerated…this includes throwing ANYTHING across the room or physical contact of either sex…

14 Bell to Bell Teaching We teach from beginning bell to closing bell…you are not permitted to start closing up and leaving seats till Teacher says goodbye…This is school policy.

15 Reading and Writing Readings and Writings will be practiced daily to promote skills for FCAT and college…This will be reflected in Homeworks …

16 Technology We will use as much current technology as I can acquire: This includes, but is not limited to: videos, powerpoints, ipads, clickers, computers, ladbugs, podcasts…

17 Your success “FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION”…if you fail, it is your choice, not mine… RIGOR: Strictness-severity- high standards

18 Tardies Noone will be allowed to enter the class after the bell without an approved, colored daily tardy pass…doors will remain locked after the bell…

19 Make-up Make-up work: ie. Tests, quizzes, assignments, is the students’ responsibility….I will only help you before school or after school when time permits…Ask your classmates or e-mail your instructor accordingly. 1 day late = 50%, 2 days late = 0, absentees refusing to seek make-up work will obtain 0, otherwise up to 3 days to make-up…

20 Lab Classroom No food, drink, or gum, chewing will be allowed in this lab classroom at any time unless teacher permits( ie. Exiting with birthday treats)

21 Class Dismissal Again, I dismiss you, not the bell…sometimes I issue a homework at the last minute…

22 Tutoring My hours are by appointment only and must have a current printed tutor hall pass signed by me, with current date… Every morning from 6:30-7 and after school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, only This is to remediate poor test/quiz grades, discuss extra credit options, etc…

23 THIS IS SCHOOLWIDE POLICY Do not say “Mr/Mrs. Doesn’t do this or that…These are ‘OUR’ daily Rituals and Routines.
