4 STATS Over 50 STI’s Gonorrhea is at (as of 09) the lowest rate ever Syphilis rates have not increased in US 40% of babies born to mothers with Syphilis die Young black women account for ½ the total screenings for Chlamydia.

7 SYPHILIS (bacterial) 3 stages 1. sores at exposure site. 2. sores in mouth and flu symptoms, rash on hands and feet. Symptoms disappear, but bacteria attacks internally. Can eventually cause brain damage, heart disease and lead to death.

9 Gonorrhea (bacterial) Symptoms- Males-pus, painful urination Symptoms- Females- more mild and pain during menstrual periods. IF untreated urethritis and infertility

10 Non-Gonococcal Urethritis (NGU) Inflammation of urethra Caused by Chlamydia, but may be other bacteria. Treated by antibiotics

13 ABC’s of…… A –lives in intestines “HAV”- at risk when engaging in oral and anal activities. B- most often transmitted by infected blood. MOST COMMON, multiple partners increases risk. C- caused by several viruses. All blood borne. By transfusions and sexually. Swollen liver, jaundice, weakness, fever.
