The only place where people can buy 64 watermelons and no one wonders why… Algebra I Syllabus Mathematics MAY NOT TEACH US HOW TO LOVE OR MINUS HATE, BUT IT GIVES US EVERY REASON TO HOPE THAT EVERY PROBLEM HAS A SOLUTION. Math is like going to the gym for your brain: It sharpens your mind. The only way mathematics. mathematics is to do to learn Math is like a problem in our life think it before you solve it!!! UNDERSTANDING. it is about algorithms: computations, or numbers, equations, is not about MATHEMATICS IN ORDER TO GAIN THE MOST YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO INTO POSITIVES CONVERT THE NEGATIVES LIFE IS A MATH EQUATION How I see math word problems. If you have 4 pencils and I have 7 apples, how many pancakes will fit on the roof? Purple, because aliens don’t wear hats. YOU DO THE MATH

Communication and phone calls will be the primary means of communicating with parents/guardians when necessary. Reasons for parent contact include: excessive absences or tardiness, disciplinary issues (good & bad), and academic issues (good & bad) Ending Class: Please make sure your area is neat and clean of any and all debris. Dispose of any trash that may be in your surrounding area. Make sure your chair is in its proper position. Also note that I am the only one that can release you from class. So please be patient. Leave the classroom in an orderly fashion. ABSENT and LATE WORK Policy
Late homework will be accepted up until the day of the unit test. Each class period late will result in 0.1points off per day (unless you have an excused absence). If a student missed a test or quiz it is their responsibility to arrange to make it up. Up to two weeks will be given to take the assessment, after that the grade will be entered in as a 0%. Test & Quiz Retake Policy Students are able to retake tests and quizzes and have two weeks from the day that the assessment is returned to do so. Retakes should be done before or after school or during activity period. To retake a test or a quiz students must first correct any missed questions on a separate piece of paper and come to tutoring at least once. Guidelines for Success: Be Respectful Do Your Best Be Responsible Classroom Expectations: Be on time (since Mathematics is a sequential subject, it is imperative that you attend class daily) Be prepared (Bring required supplies daily,) Homework will be given out everyday Follow all class, school, and county policies and procedures

Grading Policy: Scale Categories 90 – 100 A Tests – 30% 80 – 89 B Quizzes – 25% 70 – 79 C Classwork – 20% 60 – 69 D Notebook – 15% 0 – 59 F Homework – 10% There is no “extra credit” in Mr. Ranceful’s class. If you have questions about what you need to do to raise your grade please ask! Restroom: Please raise your hand to let me know and sign out and in on the sign out sheet. Please note that only one person is allowed out of class at a time, so be patient. Conversations: We have a great deal of information to cove in a short amount of time. Side bar conversations will not be allowed. There will be time given to have group discussion on related topics. If you have a question or have a comment for the classroom, raise your hand to be acknowledged. Distribution: You are responsible for any and all information distributed during class and or online. Need help? TUTORING Classroom Procedures
Entering the Classroom: Please enter the classroom quickly and quietly. After sitting in your assigned seat, copy daily class goal and homework into your notebook, sit silently and wait for further instruction. Tardy to Class: If you come to class late please go to your seat quietly, and wait for further instruction. Movement: Raise your hand to move about the classroom to sharpen pencil or to throw out trash. Need help? TUTORING Tutoring is available before and after school and during activity period.
