2 Drugs: any substance that cause change in a person’s physical or psychological state. Medicine: Any drug used to cure, prevent, or treat illness or discomfort.Qualities of medicine:Effectiveness…when it does what is supposed to do.Safety…safe when used as directed.Minor side effects…like headaches, sleepiness, or diarrhea.
3 Drugs of Abuse: Alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana change the way the brain works in ways that are NOT healthy. Drugs with mind altering effects. Origins of drugs: Drugs come from plants, animals, and fungi, nature or are created in labs by scientists.
