How is HIV transmitted? Sexual intercourse Other types of sexual contact Sharing needles Mother to unborn baby or baby that is nursing

How does HIV attack the cells? 1.HIV attaches to cell membrane 2.Virus enters cell and goes to nucleus 3.Virus makes a copy of genetic itself 4.New virus emerges 5.New virus cell breaks away from host cell

Cure for HIV or AIDS? Medicines can slow down the virus but there is NO vaccine that prevents or cures it. Now a “pandemic” (global outbreak)

Treatment for STDs STD can cause severe, long-term health problems if left untreated. Some are incurable but need medical attention. If exposed, to an STD, visit a public health clinic or your doctor. By law, all STD information is confidential. Infected people have a social obligation to prevent the spread of STDs.

Make a commitment to abstain from sex until marriage! How? 1. Avoid events where drug use or alcohol is present 2. Practice refusal skills, using body language as well as words. 3. Choose relationships carefully.
