5 Junior and Seniors Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards aka. AIMS For Jr/Sr who have not passed a section: October 28,29,30 and February 23,24,25 Tutoring Available- students sign up in counseling office! Practice TestsPractice Tests at www.azed.gov

6 Opportunities for help: – AIMS tutoring: before school or after school; students must sign up for this in the counseling office; seats are limited. – General Tutoring: Before School, Lunch, After School Tutoring available in room 401. Can be required from a teacher as well. – Pathways: On Thursdays, from 1:20-2:20 students can go work on and are often assigned to certain rooms for lessons/tutoring with our interventionists. – Pathways for ACT tutoring sign up counseling office

7 ACT and SAT How will you decide which to take? Look up colleges you want to attend or apply to and check out their admission requirements! * All Juniors will take ACT 4/28 (no cost through a grant)

9 ASVAB: Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military as well as in life. It measures not only interests, but skills and matches them with possible career choices. It can even give you a snap shot of how you will do on ACT/SAT. This test is for Juniors and Seniors. The test is 3 hours and will be after lunch, during 7 th hr. and Pathways. Students must sign up in the counseling office. The test is September 18 th ; Review Results October 23 rd Students can always sign up to see a recruiter and take the test outside of school as well.

10 AP vs DE & CAVIAT AP (Advanced Placement) courses allow your student the possibility to receive college credit. The exams are in May and are $91. Students must receive a passing score (varies) to receive college credit. DE (Dual Enrollment) courses allow your student to earn college credit by completing the class on the CHS campus. Some courses require placement testing and have a fee. CAVIAT Central Programs. Students must test into most Central Programs. CCC credits to CHS may be elective or core, depending on the program. Concurrent Enrollment. Students independently register and complete a college course. Credits return to CHS as elective or core, depending on content. Placement testing may be required.

11 CTE Testing CTE are Career and Technical Education courses such as Autos, Woods, Culinary Arts, and some Central Programs. State mandated testing windows are fall (October 27 th – December 4 th ) and spring (TBA) Students who have taken 2 or more years of the same program test. Passing scores earn a certificate from the Arizona Skills Standards Commission, a group within ADE.
