3 Youth unemployment lessons from Australia 3 We are a not-for-profit organisation helping people in difficult situations overcome personal challenges and find employment. While each young person’s situation is unique, the following programmes have assisted common issues that young people often need help with: –Youth Connections. –Alternative Suspension Programme. –Eden Youth Centre

4 Youth Unemployment in the UK Youth unemployment lessons from Australia 4 Recent statistics have shown 950,000 young people aged 16-24 unemployed = 20.5% 1.65 million 18-24 year olds economically inactive 16-17 year olds the rate is 36.4% Excluding people in full-time education, there were 659,000 unemployed 16-24 year olds

5 Youth unemployment lessons from Australia 5 Campbell Page in the UK Campbell Page in Australia have devised some innovative ways to address youth unemployment, delivering a range of interventions which are relevant and appealing to those young people. Young people who attend our programmes in the South West of England are in a similar situation, little education, no employment, no training opportunities, and a lack of appealing routes towards employment. We have, and we are, striving to emulate our Australian success by providing similar type provision here in the UK
