1  Read Ch 14 ; prepare for Quiz on Ch14 & 16  Download, Complete, and Print your answers for the Persuasive Speech Preparation Worksheet *Your topic should address a question of Policy.*  Complete Exercises #1 and #2 on page 220 (Type and Print) Homework

2  Be Seated and Be Ready when your name is called.  Turn in your Speaking Outline before you begin your speech: 10% of your grade  Make sure your Speech is under 4:15; after 4:15 you start loosing points. (3:45- 4:15 is safe) Informative Speeches

3 1.Stand up and push your chairs into the desk. 2.Find a place facing the wall. 3.When I tell you, begin your speech. I will say “Start.” 4.Stop when I tell you. I will say “Stop.” Warm-up Practice

4 Speech Format 1. When I call your name you will give me a copy of your speech outline and go to the front of the classroom and wait for me to tell you to start. 2. I will say “Camera” to start recording. 3. I will tell you to “Start” and I will start the timer. 4. Make sure your Speech is under 4:15; after 4:15 you start loosing points. (3:45-4:15 is safe) 5. Absolutely no talking when someone is giving their speech!

5  1. Rewrite your Speaking Outline:  2. Write your Notes on index Cards – NO PAPER – this is an extemporaneous speech! (Your Notes on your index cards should be basically the same information as your Speaking Outline.) = worth 10% of your grade  3. Choose a Video Partner: someone to video your speech for you. (Be sure you have a full battery & enough memory) Last Week’s Homework

6 1. I need a Volunteer 2. Please give your Video to the volunteer 3. The videos must be in WMV, MP4, AVI, or MOV format. 4. The Volunteer will bring all the speeches to me on a USB drive next class.
