Once you’ve logged in, click on the “Profile” tab at the top of the screen.

Once in the profiles section, fill out the first three tabs of information: Personal Information, Academic Information, and Privacy.

At the end of each tab, you’ll need to click “Save Changes” after you’ve entered your information.

Symplicity Document Upload and Job Listing Instructions

The following slides outline the procedure for uploading documents through Symplicity. The following are types of documents that you will be able to upload: Resume Resume Transcript (Unofficial Grade Report) Transcript (Unofficial Grade Report) Cover Letters Cover Letters List of References List of References Writing Samples Writing Samples Undergraduate Grade Reports* Undergraduate Grade Reports* * Mainly for those students interested in patent work. Undergraduate degree in hard science required.

A few important notes regarding document uploading: You may upload different documents in the system, which allows for individual cover letters, multiple writing samples, etc. When you upload documents into Symplicity, the system will convert your document from Word or WordPerfect into a.pdf format. Make sure you review the.pdf before submitting your document to ensure that the formatting has converted properly. You will only be able to upload one transcript into the system-- you will need to update it each semester.

A few important notes regarding document uploading: ASU Transcripts: PDF must be converted to a Word document. See handouts. ASU Transcripts: PDF must be converted to a Word document. See handouts. 10 To begin uploading documents, click on ‘Documents’ at the top of the screen.

From the main documents screen, click on ‘Add New’

Give your resume an appropriate name in the Label section. Make it a name that you will easily recognize later. Check that the right document is selected.

Use the Browse button to find the Word or WordPerfect version of your resume. Once you’ve identified the file, click “Submit”.

After clicking Submit, a screen will pop up asking you to wait while your file is converted. Wait for the upload and conversion to finish completely before continuing.

After the conversion, you will see the name of your resume show up in the main documents screen (1). Under the “View” column, there will be two icons, a white letter icon (2) which is the saved version of your Word or WordPerfect file, and an Adobe.pdf icon (3) which is the.pdf version of you file. Before continuing, ALWAYS click on the.pdf icon to make sure that the conversion has worked properly.

The.pdf version is what employers will see when you submit for job listings (and possibly for on-campus interviews). If the file doesn’t convert properly (margins are incorrect or extra pages) delete the file from Symplicity, rework the formatting in the original document, and resubmit.

Repeat the process for uploading by clicking Add New. Select the correct item type before uploading new files. “Other Documents” may be files such as reference lists and undergraduate grade reports.

After submitting a document for conversion, you will note that the word “converting” shows up in the file row. When this occurs, please wait a few seconds to allow the file to convert. Eventually the screen will refresh, and the word “ready” (2) will appear, along with the Adobe.pdf icon (3). If the screen doesn’t refresh, delete the file and resubmit.

As stated, ALWAYS review the.pdf version of every file that you submit (whether cover letters, resumes, writing samples, etc.). Make sure that all margins are as they should be, and that the file has not flowed over into additional pages (especially make sure that one-page resumes do not become two-page documents).

Once you have your basic documents uploaded, you will see a listing of all documents. You are now ready to apply online for job listings.

After filling out your information and uploading documents, click “Jobs” at the top of the screen to be taken to the job listings. Select CSM Jobs to view postings from Career Services office.

To see those listings that are available for 1Ls, use the “Class Level” drop down box to highlight “1L,” and then click submit. Those listings that are available to you will show up. Otherwise, do not use search functions to view an entire listing of all jobs, then sort by category headings, i.e., Job Title.

To view a listing, click on the job title.

The details of the listing will be shown. If the words “How to Apply” appear, that means that you do not have to apply through the system. Follow the instructions given.

If the words “Application Status” appear you will see drop boxes, which means that you may submit your materials through the system. If there are no drop boxes, instructions will be posted as to how to contact the employer for the opportunity.

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Note the job listing expiration date at the bottom of the screen as well as the note that pertains to all job listings, whether you apply through the system or not (1). If you want to add a note to an employer, you may do so in the “Notes” section (2). When you are sure that all of your documents are ready for submission, click “Submit (3).

Once you have submitted, the screen will refresh, the drop boxes will disappear, and the files you submitted will be noted (1). Use the Symplicity “Back” button (2) to get back to the main job listings screen.

Select the “Applications” tab to see job listings for which you have applied. If you see the words “Withdraw Application (1), it means the employer has requested resumes to be stored online for collection on the expiration date. You will be able to withdraw your application by clicking on the button any time before the expiration date. If the button does not appear, it means that the employer asked for immediate receipt of materials, and that your resume (and other documents) were submitted via email immediately upon your submitting for the job.
