Americanization was the effort to transform immigrants into mainstream American Culture. Stressed English Literacy, American History, government, and Social Etiquette. Mostly targeted at Jewish and Catholic Immigrants. Immigrants did not wish to abandon their traditions, and lived in communities to maintain their identities
