5 The start of class Entering the Classroom
At the start of class, as you come in BEFORE the bell, do the following: Pick up papers on the Student Center shelf Turn in any work that is due Sit in your assigned seat When the bell rings to begin class You are already working on the Bell Ringer assignment silently, and placed your name card in front of you for attendance.

6 Tardy/late to class Put your pass in the TARDY rack on Mrs. Cooper’s desk. Fill out the Tardy Info Sheet Silently collect papers for today & sit in your assigned seat, put your name card in front of you. Read AGENDA on whiteboard to see what you need to be working on. Unexcused Tardy to Class = “Spartan Time”

7 Activities Groups use activity boxes they have been assigned.
Put away when finished, with all supplies present. What do we get to use? Colored Pencils, Scissors, Tape.

8 Think-Pair-share! Think About:
How do we start class? What should we do if tardy? Activity supplies? Pair: Tell your partner at least one thing about each. Share: Mrs. Cooper will call on you to share

9 Signal for silence Mrs. Cooper will hang up the “silence is golden” sign.

10 Finished an assignment early
Read the current chapter in the textbook. Re-read past notes, highlight vocabulary words, make a study guide, quiz with foldables, etc. Work on homework for another class. Doing nothing is not an option. Use the Menu of Activities!

11 Quizzes & tests Write the Honor Code at the top of all assessments.
Will be taken in pencil only Write the Honor Code at the top of all assessments. If you have a question during a quiz/test: raise your hand. No talking! Talking/cheating of any kind will result in a zero for both students! Only leave your seat to turn in your quiz/test If finished early: sit silently, and use the Menu of Activities.

12 Think-Pair-share! Think About:
How do you know when to be silent? What to do if done early? Quiz/Test procedures. Pair: Tell your partner one thing about each of the above. Share: Mrs. Cooper will call on you to share. Past: Start the day, Tardy, Activities.

13 Interruptions Office Announcements Outside the Classroom RESPECT!
As soon as the loud speaker goes off: Stop talking, everyone must be silent to hear what the front office needs. RESPECT! People talking/ walking in the hall? It starts raining/ snowing? Random weird noise? DO NOTHING! IGNORE! Your learning is more important than interruptions!

14 Emergency drills Fire Drill:
line up silently at the door, first person to line up gets to hold the classroom sign  We do not leave the room until everyone is lined up, Mrs. Cooper will be the last one to leave and will lock the room. Leave the room to the left, then turn left and exit to parking lot. We will stay together outside and will take attendance.

15 Tornado Drill: Real Tornado  We will all go into the storage area of our room and shut the door. Do NOT touch anything in there! School Drill: we will go into the hall and kneel down, facing the lockers, with our hands protecting our neck. Either place we will all remain quiet.

16 Code Blue: Move silently to the storage room and wait silently.
Mrs. Cooper will lock all doors from an intruder. Wait for Mr. Spage to say its ok, we are safe 

17 Think-pair-share! Think About: Interruptions & Drills.
Pair: Tell your partner about them. Share: Be ready to share out loud.

18 Act it out! Closure activity
In groups, you will be assigned a classroom task. You have 1 minute to come up with a way to act it out!

Closed toed shoes are recommended. Hair MUST be put up/back. Nothing dangling (jewelry, clothes). Lab Safety

25 Think-pair-share! Think About: What 7 Lab Safety Rules have we learned so far? Pair: Tell your partner at least 4 Share out loud!

26 Lab safety Do not pour chemical back in containers.
Do NOT start/perform an experiment without permission. NO horseplay EVER! Lab safety

27 Lab safety ALWAYS clean up after yourself!
Broken glass goes in the broken glass bin! Stay with your lab partner/group at all times! Lab safety

28 Lab safety Report ALL injuries Immediately!
If a chemical gets in your eyes, use Eye Wash Station for 10 min! Lab safety

29 Think-pair-share! Think About: What are the 9 new rules we just learned? What were the previous 6? Pair: Tell your partner 3 new rules, and 2 previous rules. Share: I want to hear 4 new and 4 previous.

30 closure activity Step 1: Sign Safety Contracts.
Step 2 (HW): Take home and have your parent sign. Step 3: DUE: Turn in next class!
