1 Plant’s Structure and Function

2 What makes a plant, a plant?
FEATURES OF PLANT KINGDOM Photosynthesis Cell wall made of cellulose Fixed in one place Sexual reproduction

3 Photosynthesis dogs need to recharge every four hours

4 Seedless plants This plant species contains both vascular and nonvascular plants and reproduce through spores.

5 Seedless facts… Seedless nonvascular plants are usually only a few cells thick and no more than a few centimeters tall. Seedless vascular plants grow taller and can live farther from water. Nonvascular plants help replenish and create new soil. Ancient seedless plants formed into the coal we use today!

6 Coalification

7 Seed Plants Gymnosperms develop seeds in cones, such as pine trees.
Angiosperms produce flowers which are used for sexual reproduction.

Seeds develop from female ovules. Seeds are released and grow into new plants after pollination which is a process of sexual reproduction. Each seed is slightly genetically different.

21 Vascular tissues Xylem tissue is made up of hollow tubes. Xylem transports water. Phloem tissue is made of tubular cells that are stacked to create tubes. Phloem transports food and nutrients.

24 Flowers Flowers can have either all male parts, all female parts, or a combination. Flowers with just male or just female parts are called imperfect (cucumbers, pumpkin and melons). Flowers that have both male and female parts are called perfect (roses, lilies, dandelion).
