1 Heading - Drama 3 In only three sentences – tell me a story? It can be about anything – school, sport, TV, etc.

2 How many? How many of you in sentence one said where you were or who was there? How many of you in sentence two mentioned an event or situation: that something happened? How many of you in sentence three gave a result, conclusion or explained what someone did?

3 Write this down: Every story should have a beginning, middle and end.
In the beginning characters are introduced and the setting is made clear. In the middle there is a problem, a crises or a dilemma that the characters have to face. At the end, everything is resolved, finished and we see how the characters feel.

4 Our third play - Fish Two characters – a male and a female fish.
At the end, I am going to ask everyone to ‘summarise’ the story – write three sentences explaining the beginning, middle and end.

Beginning – where are we and who is there? Middle – what are the problems? End – how is everything at the end of the story and why? Compare to your homework – which was to summarise the story today. Is this explanation you have created any clearer.

10 Next week’s play: Fault(page 21)
