1 Love

2 Mark 12:28-34 28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?” 29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. 30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 So the scribe said to Him, “Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. 33 And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” But after that no one dared question Him.

3 Love Strong’s International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
G25 agapao to love (in a social or moral sense) International Standard Bible Encyclopedia While the Hebrew and Greek words for "love" have various shades and intensities of meaning, they may be summed up in some such definition as this: Love, whether used of God or man, is an earnest and anxious desire for and an active and beneficent interest in the well-being of the one loved. Different degrees and manifestations of this affection are recognized in the Scriptures according to the circumstances and relations of life, e.g. the expression of love as between husband and wife, parent and child, brethren according to the flesh, and according to grace; between friend and enemy, and, finally, between God and man. It must not be overlooked, however, that the fundamental idea of love as expressed in the definition of it is never absent in any one of these relations of life, even though the manifestation thereof may differ according to the circumstances and relations.

5 Love God Keep His commandments
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

6 Love God Revere Him Psalm 111:9
He has sent redemption to His people;          He has commanded His covenant forever:          Holy and awesome is His name. Psalm 139:7-8 7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?          Or where can I flee from Your presence?  8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;          If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

7 Love God Revere Him Romans 11:22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

8 Love God Hate Sin Psalm 5:4-5
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,          Nor shall evil dwell with You.  5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;          You hate all workers of iniquity. Romans 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from every form of evil. Psalm 119:104 Through Your precepts I get understanding;          Therefore I hate every false way.

9 Love God Be Grateful James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

10 Love God Be Grateful Psalm 103:1-2
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;          And all that is within me, bless His holy name!  2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,          And forget not all His benefits: Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

11 Love God Respect His word Psalm 119:129-136 Isaiah 66:2
“ But on this one will I look:       On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,       And who trembles at My word. Psalm 119:105, Jeremiah 10:23

12 Love God Respect His word Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Jeremiah 10:23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.

13 Love Man 1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, Romans 12:9-10 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 1 John 4:20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

14 Love Man Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

15 Love Man John 15:12-13, 17 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. …17 These things I command you, that you love one another. 1 John 3: But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. Matthew 25:31-46

16 Love Man Galatians 6:7-10 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

17 Love Mark 12:29-31 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. 30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
